Teaching at Perry Street Prep
We are seeking an In-House Substitute for SY21-22. The ideal candidate will have classroom teaching experience, preferably within an urban school setting. The position is a full-time, salaried role for SY21-22.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The In-House Substitute provides coverage for teachers who are out of the classroom at any given time. The position will work across K-8 grade levels and subjects depending on the needs of the school at any given time.
The In-House Substitute is responsible for the following:
Implementing the curriculum and utilizing classroom routines and procedures with consistency
Developing lesson plans, homework assignments and assessments
Presenting academic content through a variety of instructional strategies to reach all learners
Communicating and enforcing high expectations and standards for behavior and academic performance
Participating in professional development to learn best practices in teaching Common Core standards
Forming and maintaining relationships with students and their families, including phone calls and conferences
Abiding by the school’s COVID-19 safety protocols at all times
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
High school diploma required; Associates degree or higher preferred
Experience working with elementary and middle school students in an urban school setting preferred
Possess a commitment to educating students for academic achievement and empowering students to make healthy lifestyle choices
Believe in the capacity of every student for high academic achievement and a commitment to creating a highly-structured, effective, and fun learning environment
Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve
