POSITION OVERVIEW:
KIPP DC is looking for a dynamic, committed and flexible Manager of Secondary School Mental Health. The KIPP DC Manager of Secondary School Mental Health will provide supervision hours and support to Middle School and High School mental health practitioners across seven campuses. S/He will also work closely with school-based student support teams, school leaders, and teachers across campuses to manage and support social emotional priorities for general education and special education students. This position is full-time and reports to the KIPP DC Director of Mental Health. This position is a 12 month Headquarter School-Based position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages, supports, and clinically supervises Middle School and High School mental health practitioners to drive best practices and work effectively with school teams.
• Creates and implements middle school and high school social emotional priorities.
• Collaborates with school leaders to address proactive and urgent social emotional needs at each school.
• Designs and leads professional development for mental health practitioners, school leaders and teachers aligned with middle school and high school priorities.
• Consults with school teams to effectively execute the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) systems.
• Responds to school-wide crises.
• Collaborates with the KIPP DC Student Support Team on student support vision, goals, and priorities as well as individual student cases.
• Collaborates with KIPP DC Deputy Chief Academic Officer and Chief Academic Officers to support best practices that serve the social emotional well-being of individual students, schools, and grade levels.
• Collaborates with the Director of Mental Health and Mental Health Leadership Team to create KIPP DC mental health programming initiatives and trouble-shoot existing support systems.
• Consults with key stakeholders at the headquarters level regarding data management, family engagement, and policy development.
Serves as a full-time, engaged member of the KIPP DC team by demonstrating the following characteristics.

REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 4 years of experience as a school clinician, preferably in middle school or high school.
• At least 2 years of management experience, which includes managing social workers, counselors and/or teachers in a school setting.
• DC licensure and Master's Degree in Social Work or a related field are required.
• Demonstrate positive, collaborative problem-solving skills with students, parents/guardians, educators, administrators, community members, colleagues, and KIPP DC network staff.
• Extensive knowledge of the following processes: Special Education referral, identification, and delivery of services; Multi-Tiered Systems of Support/Response to Intervention systems; and Functional Behavior Assessment/Behavior Intervention Plan writing and implementation.
• Knowledge of the Office of the State Superintendent of Education requirements for Special Education service delivery, 504 plan implementation, and Homeless Youth and Children Program requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
• Extensive ability to be flexible with scheduling and accommodating multiple KIPP DC stakeholders on a daily and weekly basis.
