Middle School Assistant Principal of Culture
The Assistant Principal of Culture drives the school-wide vision for positive, values-driven culture. They are the school-based owner of reactive discipline, and work to ensure that all adults and students in the school building uphold the Two Rivers culture vision through consistent implementation of structures and systems. The Assistant Principal of Culture reports to the Principal
Responsibilities
School Culture and Student Character
Leads and facilitates spirit and structure of Crew; works closely with teachers to plan effectively for Crew
Plans and leads professional development for teachers on Two Rivers vision for school culture and student character
Coaches teachers and staff to promote the belief in equitable practices of behavior responses
Ensures that students, teachers, and families have a deep understanding of Two Rivers Scholarly Habits and of structures such as Community Meeting and Crew
Leads school culture data analysis with the school leadership team to celebrate, problem solve, and address data
Leads the Student Ambassador Program, shadow days, and Summer Bridge for sixth through eighth grades
Monitors weekly Community Meetings to ensure that they are high-quality and promote student ownership, student voice, and pride in learning and supports teachers and students in delivering high-quality Community Meetings
Participate in school leadership team meetings and share in the duties of running the middle school campus
Family Engagement
Supports belief that families are key partners in the education of their child, makes families feel welcome, and engages them actively in the life of Two Rivers
Encourages and supports all families to participate in school events through multiple strategies
Collects and analyzes data on family participation and makes action plans to ensure maximum involvement
Works with teachers to ensure a pattern of positive, regular communication with families
Develops and leads regular events to engage families and to elicit their feedback on school culture
Student Behavior
Coaches teachers in Two Rivers belief that school discipline is framed in terms of becoming a self-directed learner
Works closely and effectively with students who have behavioral challenges
Meets regularly with school counselor and student support coordinator to monitor plans to support students
Oversees and owns proactive and reactive student discipline systems
Participates in Student Support Team meetings when there is a behavioral, emotional, or attendance issue
Communicates with families about positive and negative student behaviors and consequences
Administrative Duties
Works with Operations team to communicate with families about absences and tardies and creates action plans for families when there are concerns
Works with Two Rivers Homeless Liaison to ensure that students who are experiencing homelessness get their needs met
