POSITION SUMMARY: The Technology Resource Teacher is responsible for teaching computer skills, and 21st century technology skills. The position will work as a member of the STEM team to advance the mission of the Goodwill Excel Center to ensure students are job ready, especially upon graduation. The Technology Resource Teacher will support GEC students with accessing their on-line courses, and facilitate student learning as it relates to understanding the functions of computers, the internet and with accessing and mastering on-line curriculum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teaches skills, knowledge, and scientific concepts through courses in basic computer application, including on-line courses that lead to Microsoft Office Certification, and on-line credit baring classes as it relates to on-line colleges, and post-secondary credentials.
• Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with GEC’s basic instructional philosophy (gradual release) adapting the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
• Plans a technology education program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments; organizes activities for optimal learning.
• Instructs students in the proper use, care and safe handling of equipment.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
• Works with the Registrar and Business Analyst to create and manage log-ins for the BlackBoard online learning platform, and other online learning platforms as required.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions.
• Evaluates each student’s growth in knowledge and skills in the course being taught and makes adjustments to lessons.
• Communicates with parents and academic success coaches on student progress.
• Partners with Special Education Services team to ensure all necessary accommodations and modifications are provided to students with disabilities.
• Participates in team, and all school staff meetings.
• Develops on-lines course assessment protocols, and policies.
• Administers testing in accordance with GEC testing practices.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Required Qualifications:
1. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in education technology or a related field.
2. Must understand the expectations around 21st century technology skills and digital literacy.
3. At least three (3) years of teaching technology skills and digital literacy.
4. Expertise in teaching Microsoft Office and its various components to at-risk populations.
5. Experience with Blackboard or similar online learning platforms.
6. Strong familiarity with on-line college platforms, and the Microsoft Office Certification platform.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree with at least 7 years direct experience teaching technology education to at risk populations
2. Previous Microsoft Office Certification trainer experience
3. Bilingual, especially in Spanish
