The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request from BASIS DC Public Charter School (BASIS DC PCS) to amend its charter agreement to revise its graduation requirements. The school submitted its request on March 28, 2023.
BASIS DC PCS began operation in SY 2012 – 13, educating students in grades 5 through 12. The school currently enrolls 663 students at one facility located in Ward 2. BASIS DC PCS’ mission is to “provide an academically excellent and rigorous liberal arts college preparatory education available to all middle and high school students of the District of Columbia."
BASIS DC PCS seeks to adjust its graduation requirements beginning in SY 2023 – 24 as follows:
• Offer AP Pre-Calculus as an alternative to its Pre-Calculus course.
• Replace World History and Geography II requirement with AP World History.
Please note, such changes will impact the graduating class of 2028. Students graduating in 2023 through 2027 will follow the current graduation requirements.
