Each year, DC PCSB assesses the finances and operations of DC public charter schools. These reviews evaluate how well schools manage their finances. High-performing schools ensure they have sufficient funds for the year and contingencies. For low-rated schools, the School Finance Team collaborates with leadership to discuss ways that ensure solvency. Additionally, detailed financial information, including budgets, fiscal audits, and 990s, is published for each school.
Financial Analysis Reports
DC PCSB reviews and summarizes financial audits to create the Financial Analysis Report (FAR), providing consistent and transparent information on LEAs' finances and operations.
The Financial Analysis Report Technical Guide explains DC PCSB's process for creating the Financial Analysis Report (FAR). It aims to help school leaders, data managers, families, and others understand the FAR's content, methodology, and scope.
The Monitoring List is the first escalation step taken by DC PCSB to track public charter LEAs that show signs of financial instability. Public charter LEAs are placed on this Monitoring List for a combination of factors like low cash reserves, high debt ratios, or issues with budget management.
