Fun, Festivities, and a Look Toward the Future: Enrollment Saturday

May 5, 2026

On May 2, My School DC’s Enrollment Saturday brought energy, excitement, and a one-stop opportunity for families to enroll and re-enroll for the upcoming year at many DC public charter schools.

Across the city, DC public charter schools opened their doors to support families through the enrollment process while creating welcoming, fun, community-centered experiences.  These events help families complete important steps for the upcoming school year while also giving students and caregivers an early opportunity to connect with their school communities.

Dozens of DC public charter schools shared highlights from the day, showcasing the pride, creativity, and care that define their communities.

At Statesmen PCS, newly enrolling scholars leaped and climbed on moonbounces, played games like Mario Kart, and began building bonds with their future classmates.

Meanwhile, at Meridian PCS, the owls were out of their nests during their “Owl Fest!” This enrollment event included food vendors, face painting, basketball sessions, balloon making, coloring, and more.

And at KIPP DC, they held a family reunion during their Enrollment Day! Cheerleaders welcomed the next wave of scholars, and the event included entertainment, custom t-shirts, and proud families, bringing together school communities to ensure students are set up for a strong start to the school year.

Events like Enrollment Saturday reflect the strength of DC’s public charter school community, where schools are not only preparing students academically, but also building relationships that support student success from day one.

As families secure their seats for the upcoming school year, these moments serve as a reminder that strong school communities start with connection, trust, and a shared commitment to student success.

Follow us on social media at @dcpcsb, as we continue to share moments from Enrollment Saturday and celebrate students securing their seats for the year ahead.
