Bold Improvement Schools

Five DC Public Charter Schools were honored as “Bold Improvement” schools, based on an analysis conducted by EmPowerK12 and Education Reform Now.

Schools receiving the award have demonstrated over the last two years to have accomplished some of the best academic growth, as well as have the highest percentage of at-risk students. Students are considered at-risk when their families are eligible for SNAP of TANF, or are in foster care or homeless.

Five out of the ten schools recognized are public charter schools including:

• Center City PCS- Shaw
• DC Bilingual PCS
• Friendship PCS- Blow Pierce Middle
• KIPP- Northeast Academy PCS
• KIPP- Promise Academy PCS

These schools also are rated Tier 1 on our School Quality Reports.
