Since its founding in 2013, the school has grown from its inaugural class of fewer than 130 students to enrolling more than 700 this year, including a 70-year-old man working toward his college degree and three sisters who are pursuing healthcare careers.
“This all started with a vision from our founder, Connie Spinner,” said CEO Gerald Konohia. “We measure success not so much with diplomas and certifications. We measure success by doors opened, by careers launched, by families whose futures change because one adult learner had the courage to walk through these doors, which marked the entryway of dreams coming true.”
Dr. Michelle Walker-Davis, Executive Director of the DC Public Charter School Board, added: “This moment represents more than the opening of a new building, it is the continuation of a powerful vision. Every student who walks through these doors will carry Connie Spinner’s legacy forward.”
With innovative programs such as blended learning, career pathways, and dual enrollment, the school continues its mission to transform lives and create opportunities for DC’s adult learners.
