Five Public Charter School Students Win Full Scholarships
Five DC public charter school students won full-ride scholarships to George Washington University on Wednesday March 18. The students were visited by the GW "Prize Patrol" comprised of George Washington President Dr. Steven Knapp, the University's Dean of Admissions, and the school mascot who delivered the good news.
Provided by the Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarship program, the scholarship will include tuition, room, and board for each student to attend George Washington University. It is among the most prestigious and competitive scholarships at the University. Established in 1989, the program has awarded 155 scholarships to DC students.
The lucky DC charter school seniors and winners of this coveted scholarship are:
- Lashae Hunter, Cesar Chavez Public Charter School for Public Policy, Parkside High School; Ward 7 resident
- Matthew Jenkins, KIPP DC College Preparatory Public Charter School; Ward 5 resident
- Bruce Beuzard, KIPP DC College Preparatory Public Charter School; Ward 5 resident
- Faith Hudson, Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School; Ward 8 resident
