Middle School Math Teacher

Instructional

The primary responsibilities of a Social Justice School math teacher include:
● Plan and execute high-quality instruction aligned to SJS mission, assessment data, and
curriculum framework
● Assess students regularly using multiple formats, including standardized tests, formative and
summative assessments, and individual assessments. Use the results of assessment to guide
instruction
● Collaborate with other General Education, Special Education, and ELL teacher
● Be an active member of the SJS Professional Learning Community
● Participate in data-driven instruction cycles

● Plan/Implement Learning Expeditions rooted in social justice
● Co-create the school culture as a founding teacher
● Create a physically and emotionally safe and inclusive classroom culture and environment that
demonstrates SJS’ Habits of Character by consistently modeling our values, practicing PBIS
(Positive Behavior Intervention System) and Developmental Designs, practicing Restorative
Justice techniques, showcasing student work, and maximizing instructional time
● Lead an advisory, or Crew, in order to teach Social-Emotional Learning
● Attend a summer institute and weekly professional development with the entire staff
● Partner with families to ensure student success
● Contribute to the productivity of the school as a whole.
● Attend and participate in school events outside of regular school hours
● Commit to having courageous conversations about race, equity and social justice
