National Collegiate Prep PCS Students Visit Walter Reed Army Institute of Research | |
![]() A group of 74 National Collegiate Preparatory PCS STEM program students attended a STEM Lab at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Students were exposed to STEM activities with doctors, scientists, soldiers, and engineers. They also met the Defense Ministers of Nigeria and Tanzania. |

span style="font-size:12px">Chavez Schools welcomed UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Director-General Irina Bokova to their Capitol Hill school for a lively dialogue about the importance of education as a way to participate as a global citizen and how to build a generation of women who will invest in their countries and communities. “I travel all over the world,” Bokova said. “Education is so essential for women. We cannot talk about gender equality without talking about education.” Bokova’s visit to Chavez Schools was co-hosted by The Wilson Center’s Women in Public Service Project. Read more here. | |

Preppies from Edgewood Middle and Benning Middle School schools played in the first-ever cross-campus basketball game with their classmates, teachers, and parents cheering them on. Benning Middle opened in 2013-14 with fourth grade and has added a grade each year. This year's sixth graders were quite the match for Edgewood Middle peers on and off the court! Zoe Crute, Washington Latin PCS student, won the 2016 Pennsylvania State Ski Championship for U14 Women. With her win, Zoe qualified for the U14 USSA Eastern Championships in Sunday River, Maine. Way to go, Zoe!

SEED Falcon Theater Takes Over Atlanta |

The SEED Falcon Theater participated in the 2016 Junior Theater Arts Festival in Atlanta for the fourth consecutive year. Performing a 15-minute version of The Lion King, Jr. the SEED Falcon Theater wowed the adjudicators, other school groups, and parents.
The SEED Falcon Theater received the following awards: Excellence in the Broadway, Jr. Slam, Performance All-Star, Broadway, and Technical Theater All-Star. Three students won third place in the Tech Olympics and two students the Golden Ticket, Broadway Jr. DVD audition nominee. Another student was awarded the Excellence by an Individual Female (Best Actress) prize. SEED also brought home the trophy for Excellence in Ensemble Work.
