Michelle Yan
Michelle Yan leads operations at CitySchools Collaborative, where she ensures alignment between organizational strategy and daily business practices. She supports systems and processes that strengthen the organization’s ability to advance public education in Washington, DC.
Before joining CitySchools Collaborative, Ms. Yan served as chief of staff to the deputy mayor for education, where she supported the District’s education and workforce strategy, oversaw pandemic recovery investments, and helped direct resources to students with the greatest needs. Earlier, she served as director of data and strategy for My School DC, the city’s common application and lottery system. She is a Broad Residency alumna.
Ms. Yan began her career as a middle school math teacher in St. Louis, Missouri, and later worked as a consultant at Bain & Company. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Harvard University and master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Secondary Education from the University of Missouri.
