Notice of Petition to Amend Charter Agreement – Goals/Academic Achievement Expectations
Vote Date
Summary
The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request submitted by Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School (“Carlos Rosario PCS”) on June 16, 2015 to amend its charter agreement by revising its goals and academic achievement expectations.
Carlos Rosario PCS is currently in its 17th year of operation serving adults students at a single campus in Ward 1. The school offers various services, including a GED program for English and Spanish speakers, an ESL program that includes a family literacy component, workforce academies that help students prepare for employment after graduation, and a citizenship program for students seeking citizenship in the United States. Carlos Rosario PCS’s charter agreement was most recently renewed on July 1, 2013. At that time the school specified its goals and academic achievement expectations, but did not include specific measures for some of its goals. The school has now determined appropriate measures for all of its goals and has requested PCSB’s approval.
Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its goals and academic achievement expectations.
