Notice of Petition to Amend Charter: DC Bilingual PCS
Vote Date
Summary
The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“DC PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request to amend its enrollment ceiling by DC Bilingual Public Charter School (“DC Bilingual PCS”) on May 3, 2016.
DC Bilingual PCS is currently in its twelfth year of operation serving students in grades prekindergarten-3 through fifth at a single campus located in Ward 5. In an effort to better accommodate the acquisition of students who formerly attended Community Academy PCS, which closed in 2015, DC Bilingual PCS would like to implement a new “transitional class” for those students who require additional support in order to progress through the school’s rigorous bilingual program. As a result, DC Bilingual PCS is requesting an increase from 375 to 451 students beginning in SY 2016-2017.
Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its enrollment ceiling.
