Notice of Petition to Amend Charter: Enrollment Ceiling Increase – The Family Place PCS

Due Date

July 17, 2023

Vote Date

August 21, 2023

Summary

The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request from The Family Place Public Charter School (TFP PCS) to amend its charter agreement by increasing its enrollment ceiling. The school submitted its request on May 31, 2023.

Founded in school year (SY) 2018 – 19, TFP PCS educates 202 adult learners at a single facility located at 3309 16th Street NW in Ward 1. The school’s mission is to “improve the literacy and workplace skills of low-income limited English proficient adults in the District so that they and their family are self-sustaining, employable and engaged in their community”.

The school seeks to increase its enrollment ceiling from 183 to 225 students beginning in SY 2024 – 25, subsequently increasing by 25 each year until reaching its maximum enrollment of 275 in SY 2028 – 29. The proposed request follows the rate of increase the school has seen since opening in 2018.
