Notice of Petition to Amend Charter: Enrollment Ceiling Increase – YouthBuild PCS

Due Date

January 23, 2017

Vote Date

February 27, 2017

Summary

The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request to increase its enrollment ceiling submitted by YouthBuild Public Charter School on December 5, 2016.

YouthBuild PCS proposes to increase its enrollment ceiling from 115 to 150 students, effective for SY 2017-2018 and beyond.   Currently in its eleventh year of operation, YouthBuild PCS provides academic support, vocational training and employability skills-building for adult students, at a single location in Ward 1.  Per the school, this enrollment ceiling increase will enable YouthBuild PCS to meet increased demand for its program, and allow the school to afford the cost of relocating its campus to a facility that is better suited to meet the needs of its students.

Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its Enrollment Ceiling.
