Vote Date

November 21, 2016

Summary

The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“DC PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a verbal request submitted by Roots Public Charter School (“Roots PCS”) on September 1, 2016 to amend its charter by revising its existing goals and academic achievement expectations.

Roots PCS is currently in its 17th year of operation serving students in grades prekindergarten-3 through fifth. The school is requesting to update its assessments for its early childhood literacy program and revise its early childhood goals to align with the proposed new assessments. If approved, this amendment will be effective for SY 2016-2017 and beyond.

Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its Goals and Academic Achievement Expectations.
