Notice of Petition to Amend Charter: Goals and Academic Achievement Expectations - Sela PCS
Vote Date
Summary
The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“DC PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request to amend its goals and academic achievement expectations submitted by Sela Public Charter School (“Sela PCS”) on July 29, 2016.
Sela PCS proposes to make the following changes to its mission-specific charter goals:
- Remove the diversity goal from the school’s charter agreement, though consider keeping this as an internal goal with possible changed wording. The school’s rationale is that it does not target students from a particular demographic.
- Add the OPI assessment to the goal about Hebrew proficiency for 3rd grade and beyond, as the ELLOPA assessment does not assess beyond 2nd grade.
Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its goals and academic achievement expectations.
