Notice of Petition to Amend Charter – Mission and Vision Statement | Meridian Public Charter School
Vote Date
Summary
The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request submitted by Meridian Public Charter School (“Meridian PCS”) on June 4, 2015 to amend its charter by changing its mission and vision statement.
Meridian PCS is currently in its 16th year of operation serving students in grades prekindergarten-3 through eighth. The school currently operates at a single campus on 13th Street, NW in Ward 1. However, at its board meeting on May 18, 2015, PCSB approved the school to add a new facility located at 3031 14th Street, NW beginning in SY 2015-2016 where the school plans to serve its middle school population, grades 6-8. For this amendment, Meridian PCS is requesting to revise its mission to the following: “Meridian PCS is a rigorous Pre-K to 8th grade, which academically prepares its diverse student population to be successful in an increasingly global and technology based society, thus our mission and vision statements should reflect our practice.”
Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its mission.
