Notice of Petition to Amend Charter: New Location - Academy of Hope Adult PCS

Due Date

May 16, 2016

Vote Date

June 20, 2016

Summary

The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“DC PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a verbal request submitted by Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (“Academy of Hope PCS”) on March 30, 2016 to relocate to a new facility in Ward 5.

Academy of Hope PCS received full charter approval on June 16, 2014, and the school’s first year of operation was in school year 2014-2015.  In addition to its campus in Ward 8, Academy of Hope PCS currently has a second campus located in Ward 5 at 601 Edgewood Street, NE, Suite 25, Washington, DC 20017.  Beginning in school year 2016-2017, Academy of Hope PCS proposes to relocate its Ward 5 facility to a new facility in that same ward, located at 2315 18th Place, NE, Washington, DC 20018.  By relocating to the newly proposed Ward 5 location, the school plans to house both its headquarters and an academic program within the same facility.

Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its location.
