The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“DC PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a verbal request submitted by Lee Montessori Public Charter School (“Lee Montessori PCS”) on March 17, 2016 to relocate to a new facility in Ward 5.
Lee Montessori PCS is currently in its second year of operation serving students in grades prekindergarten-3 through second, with a growth plan to add third grade next school year. The school’s mission is “to create a peaceful, multi-age learning environment for preschool and elementary aged children that fosters the physical, social, emotional and academic growth and development of students and produces life-long learners using the materials and philosophy developed by Maria Montessori and furthered by the Association Montessori Internationale.” The school is currently co-located with Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS at a facility in Ward 5. However, beginning in school year 2016-2017, Lee Montessori PCS plans to relocate to another facility in Ward 5 located at 3015 4th Street, NE in Ward 5, where the school will co-locate with the recently chartered Washington Leadership Academy PCS.
Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its location.
