Reflecting on a Year of Commitment - DC PCSB Releases 2025 Annual Report

July 30, 2025

Each year, DC PCSB releases an annual report to highlight key milestones, challenges, and progress in our oversight of Washington, DC’s public charter schools. We are proud to share the 2025 Annual Report, a comprehensive look back at School Year 2024–25, a year shaped by a deep commitment to students, families, educators, and our community.

At its core, this report tells the story of how we advanced our mission: to approve, monitor, and evaluate public charter schools with a strong focus on fairness and academic and financial excellence.

Key highlights include:

  • 47,525 students – 48% of all public school students in DC were enrolled in public charter schools.
  • Oversight of academic performance, financial health, and legal compliance through charter reviews, school visits, and financial oversight.
  • Deeper engagement with families and city agencies to address school safety, student wellness, and school closures.
  • Support for new initiatives, including the Partnership for DC School Excellence and expanded career fairs to help schools fill critical roles.

The full report also features student artwork and data that reflect the strength, growth, and diversity of the charter school sector.
