2017-18 DC Public Charter School Equity Reports Released

Today, the DC Public Charter School released the school year 2017-18 Equity Reports for PK-12 schools.  These reports help families and the public see how a public charter school is performing on a variety of measures of educational equity.

Today, the DC Public Charter School released the school year 2017-18 Equity Reports for PK-12 schools.  These reports help families and the public see how a public charter school is performing on a variety of measures of educational equity. The reports rely on data taken from the DC School Report Card and STAR Framework public files, available at  https://dcschoolreportcard.org/

Every School’s Equity Report includes:

School Characteristics

  • Grades served, location of the school, address and contact information

Enrollment

  • Total Enrollment: The total number of students ever enrolled in the school during SY 2017-18.
  • Enrollment by Subgroup: The percent of students ever enrolled in the school who fell within a particular subgroup at any point during the school year.
  • Enrollment by Grade: The total number of students ever enrolled in the school broken out by grade level.

Attendance

  • In-Seat Attendance (ISA): The average percentage of students who attended school on a daily basis; calculated as Total Number of Days Present / Total Number of Days Enrolled for all students ever enrolled during the school year.

Exclusionary Discipline

  • Expulsion Rate: The percent of students ever enrolled in the school during the school year who received an expulsion.
  • Out-of-School Suspension Rate: The percent of students ever enrolled in the school during the school year who received one or more out-of-school suspensions.

Academic Achievement and Growth

  • Student Achievement, Percent 3+: The percent of students eligible to take the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessment or the Multi-State Alternative Assessment (MSAA) who scored a level of 3, 4, or 5 on the PARCC, or a level 3 or 4 on MSAA.
  • Student Achievement, Percent 4+: The percent of students eligible for the PARCC or MSAA who scored a level of 4 or 5 on the PARCC, or a level 3 or 4 on the MSAA.
  • PARCC Growth Percentiles: The median value of the student growth percentiles among students who took the PARCC; student growth percentiles measure students’ growth between testing years compared to academically similar students across the PARCC consortium. A student with a growth percentile of 50 outpaced 50% of her academically similar peers in terms of growth on PARCC between testing years. Students must have at least two years of PARCC data in order to receive a student growth percentile.

Student Mobility

  • Mid-Year Entry: The number of students who enrolled following the Enrollment Audit Count Day divided by the total number of students enrolled as of the Enrollment Audit Count Day.
  • Mid-Year Withdrawal: The number of students who exited or transferred following the Enrollment Audit Count Day divided by the total number of students enrolled as of the Enrollment Audit Count Day.

Graduation

  • 4-Year Graduation Rate: The percent of students in the adjust 9th-grade cohort that graduates within four years
  • 5-Year Graduation Rate: The percent of students in the adjust 9th-grade cohort that graduates within five years
  • Extended Years Graduation Rate: The number of students who graduate, regardless of the number of years that it takes, divided by the number of students in the four-year graduation cohort; unlike the 4-year and 5-year rates, students may be included in the numerator without being included in the denominator. This metric is designed to recognize schools that are successfully graduating off-track students
