Barbara Nophlin, a long-time advocate of public education, has resigned her post on the Board.

In her letter to the Board Chair Darren Woodruff, Nophlin stated that she has learned a lot and appreciated the opportunity to serve on the Board.  She also said she “will always champion the role of charter school in our city, and looked forward to the future collaboration of public and public charter schools in all eight wards.”

Nophlin’s last day on the Board is November 4, 2015.

Here’s what PCSB Board Members and Executive Director had to say:

Darren Woodruff, Board Chair

"Both the charter board and our schools have benefited greatly from Barbara's experience as an educator and her unique insights as a longtime member of the community. We thank her for her contributions to DC charter schools and we will miss her greatly."

Don Soifer, Vice Chair

“I’m extremely grateful for Barbara’s time on the PCSB Board.  Her knowledge and experience from an accomplished career as a DC educator and school leader were incredible assets to our work as a board.”

Rick Cruz, Board Member

"Barbara’s longstanding commitment to public education and the young people of DC made her a powerful voice on the Board and one we'll miss. She brought a unique and valuable perspective to a range of issues including early childhood programming and school culture. We should all be thankful for her service these past few years."

Scott Pearson, Executive Director

“It’s tough to identify diligent board members that offer Barbara’s expertise: being a tirelessly advocate for public education and a champion for public charter schools.  We’ll miss her but I’m thankful she served on the Board.”

Barbara was a long-time advocate of public education.
