BASIS PCS Completes Special Education Monitoring
At the April Board Meeting, PCSB approved the conclusion of Special Education Monitoring at BASIS PCS. After several months of monitoring and three informative school visits, the DC Public Charter School Board staff wrote this memo stating that BASIS PCS successful implemented services to all students with disabilities and is concluding its monitoring.
During the 2014-2015 school year, PCSB staff conducted three in-person observations at BASIS PCS to collect evidence of the quality of the school’s Special Education Action Plan. PCSB found that BASIS had outstanding elements in its program, which included Inclusive Classroom, SST Program and Processes, Modification/Accommodations and Differentiated Instruction for All Learners.
The school has shown a concerted effort to improve their system and meet all the requirements mentioned in their Special Education Action Plan. PCSB staff observed special and general educators working hard to differentiate lessons, provide students with support and help enable students with disabilities access to the general education curriculum.
