Board Takes a Step Toward Revoking LAYC Career Academy’s Charter
The DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) voted 5-2 to initiate revocation of the charter for LAYC Career Academy PCS, under its authority under the School Reform Act (SRA) based on the school failing to meet the majority of its goals and academic achievement expectations. LAYC Career Academy PCS, opened in 2012-13, provides adult education to students between the ages of 16 and 24 and offers students a GED, College, Medical Assistant, and Information Technology Pathway.
Because the PCSB Board voted to initiate revocation proceedings, the school can request an informal public hearing to make a presentation to the Board.
