Washington, D.C. — DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) voted July 29 to approve the renewal of the charter of The SEED School of Washington, D.C. (SEED PCS) for an additional 15-years. After a thorough review of the school’s renewal petition, PCSB determined that the charter should be renewed based on the school’s overall academic, fiscal performance and compliance with applicable laws.
SEED PCS is a public charter college preparatory boarding school in Ward 7 with 341 students in 6th- 12th grades. Its high school graduation rate was 87% in 2011-12, the most recent year available. PCSB staff assessed SEED PCS renewal petition and determined that SEED PCS met 12 of the 13 goals as set forth in its charter, and partially met another.
SEED was one of nine 15-year renewals PCSB completed in the 2012-13 cycle. To read SEED PCS’ 15-year renewal report, or to learn more about 15-year charter renewal please visit this link.
