Charter School Board Accepting Public Comment on Adopting PMF as Charter Goals and Academic Achievement

Washington, D.C. — The DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) is accepting public comment on a proposed policy to allow schools to Adopt the Performance Management Framework (PMF) as Charter Goals and Academic Achievement for its charter goals and student achievement expectations.  The policy proposes a method for setting short and long-term goals that are achievable while still holding schools to high standards of performance.  

If approved, the new PMF-based goals would be used to evaluate a school's performance for the years beginning with the year the PMF was formally adopted by the Board (2010-11 for schools serving grades 3-8 and high schools, and the year of adoption for other PMFs).  The proposed policy sets specific requirements for schools undergoing fifth and 10th year charter reviews, as well as those undergoing the 15-year charter renewal process.

The public comment period opens December 18, and will close on Thursday January 31st. A public hearing will be held during the board’s monthly meeting on Monday February 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the DC Public Charter School Board, 3333 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC.
