Enrollment Ceiling Increase - Creative Minds PCS
The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“DC PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on a request submitted by Creative Minds International Public Charter School (“Creative Minds PCS”) on February 1, 2016 to increase its existing enrollment ceiling.
Creative Minds PCS was established in 2012 with a mission to “offer students a rigorous education plan that provides them with the skills required for successful participation in a global society.” The school offers an inclusive learning community for a diverse student population that includes approximately 30% students with disabilities and approximately 25% economically disadvantaged students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. Beginning in school year 2016-2017, the school is requesting to increase its existing enrollment ceiling by 77 students each school year, over the next ten years, until it reaches an ultimate enrollment ceiling of 730 students by school year 2026-2027. The proposed request for an increase in enrollment is a result of recent long-term financial planning and analysis completed by the school’s Treasurer and Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its enrollment ceiling.
