Every week, more public charter school students are returning to school for in-person learning and support - and we all expect that trend to increase.  We are feeling more and more hopeful about the world getting closer to returning to “normal.” View the latest operating status for all schools here.

Our goals for school year 2021-22 are:

  • To support returning students safely to the classroom five days per week as long as health conditions and guidance allow. We remain optimistic that by this fall every school should ideally be able to offer in-person education as its primary option.

We recognize that not every student, family, or teacher feels comfortable returning to in-person learning instruction, and sporadic disruptions may continue even after a return to “normal.” We believe schools will also need a quality and robust virtual learning option.

  • Where space is limited, schools should prioritize students most in need for a return to in-person learning.
  • If a school wishes to have virtual instruction as a permanent component of its school model beyond SY 2021-22, it will need to seek a charter amendment.

We encourage families to communicate with their school to learn about how they are planning to reopen safely.
