Notice of Charter Review – Cedar Tree PCS, Hope Community PCS, IDEA PCS

Summary

The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comments on the DC public charter schools listed below which are up for a charter review on March 17, 2025. Pending DC PCSB staff’s analysis, the Board may elect to do one of the following for schools up for review: 1) continue the school’s charter without conditions, 2) conditionally continue the school’s charter by imposing annual or interim targets or requirements it must meet, or 3) initiate charter revocation proceedings.

1. Cedar Tree PCS is up for its 25-year charter review. The school operates one campus in Ward 8, where it serves students in grades pre-kindergarten 3 (PK3) – 2. Its mission is: “Cedar Tree Academy Public Charter School is committed to academic excellence for all students. We will build the foundation for all students in a safe learning environment designed to enhance social and emotional growth, cognitive and creative development while preparing students to become active independent learners. – No exception, No excuses!”

2. Hope Community PCS is up for its 20-year charter review. The school operates one campus in Ward 5. It serves students in grades PK3 – 8. Its mission is “to shape the hearts and minds of our scholars positively, by providing them with an academically rigorous, content rich curriculum, an environment in which character is modeled and promoted, and a community in which to build trusting relationships with others.”

3. IDEA PCS is up for its 25-year charter review. The school operates one campus in Ward 7, where it serves students in grades 9 – 12. The school’s mission is “to prepare students with the academic, social, leadership, and occupational skills for post-secondary opportunities and to be responsible citizens who contribute to the community.”
