Read Across America Day: Celebration of Dr. Seuss
The National Education Association deemed Dr. Seuss’s Birthday as Read Across America Day. It is a nationwide celebration that encourages everyone to pick up a book and read. Each year Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2. On this day, parents, teachers, librarians, and children take time to read to their class or to themselves as a celebration and not as a chore. Reading is very important and pleasant to celebrate. We hope you celebrated with a good book!
Many of our schools took the time to celebrate Read Across America Day by not only reading, but also by dressing up as some Dr. Seuss characters.
DC Prep PCS got a surprise visit from Thing 1, Thing 2, and Dr. Seuss on Read Across America Day, which is also Dr. Seuss’s birthday. This surprise visit made the Preppies shout hip hip hooray! #ReadAcrossAmerica #DrSeussDay
Students at Early Childhood Academy PCS celebrated Dr. Seuss and Read Across America by attending their Seussville Carnival. Students enjoyed a read aloud and created many arts and crafts in celebration of Dr. Seuss.
What great ways to honor Dr. Seuss and celebrate the importance of reading!
