Attendance and Truancy Policy

This policy establishes truancy and chronic truancy levels for DC public charter schools.

A school’s truancy rate is based on the percent of students ages 5-17 who have accrued 10 or more unexcused absences. A School should not exceed the below truancy threshold established by the DC PCSB Board:

• 30% for traditional elementary and middle schools

• 35% for traditional high schools

• 45% for DC PCSB designated "alternative" schools
