DC Public Charter School Board Website Redesign Request for Proposal (RFP)

The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) seeks proposals from individuals and organizations that are experienced in providing and/or redesigning the DC PCSB website (www.dcDC PCSB.org) to improve user experience, navigation, accessibility, and realign and redesign relevant content for our diverse audiences of families, students, educators, and community members. The improved site should reflect DC DC PCSB’s mission, vision, and brand. Designing new school pages that incorporate (and automate updates of) school evaluation data, scores, and Levels (ASPIRE) while enhancing overall functionality, usability, and ADA compliance.

Open Enrollment Policy

As stated in the School Reform Act, §38-1802.06(a) Enrollment in a public charter school shall be open to all students who are residents of the District of Columbia … and (b) A public charter school may not limit enrollment on the basis of a student’s race, color, religion, national origin, language spoken, intellectual or athletic ability, measures of achievement or aptitude, or status as a student with special needs. In addition, according to D.C. Code § 2-1402.41(1), a public charter school may not limit enrollment on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identification. The now named Open Enrollment Policy employs several strategies to ensure that schools are in compliance with these laws.

Data and Document Submission Policy

  

The following are expectations of each school for timely submissions of data and documents to DC PCSB:  

  • Enrollment—submit within five business days of a student’s entry
  • Attendance—submit monthly
  • Discipline—submit monthly
  • Compliance—submit into Epicenter based on DC PCSB’s annual compliance calendar
  • Data Validation—validate as requested for the PMF, Equity Reports, Council

Transcript Audit Policy

The DC Public Charter School Transcript Audit Policy applies to all authorized public charter high schools in the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) portfolio. This policy explains the process by which DC PCSB verifies the status of 9th-grade students, to ensure they are on track to graduate in four years (one of the indicators measured in the Performance Management Framework) as well as the graduate status of 12th-grade students to ensure they are on track to be included on the certified graduates list. Student Admission Guidelines

Public charter schools are required to comply with the DC School Reform Act of 1995 (SRA) and with the provisions of their charter agreement in admitting students for enrollment. This policy provides guidance for schools to comply with those requirements.

Parent and Alumni Leadership Council

After years of operating a Community Advisory Group (or CAG), the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) establishes the Parent and Alumni Leadership Council (PALC). The PALC will provide advice to DC PCSB regarding its policies related to public charter schools. The PALC offers members the opportunity to learn about the Board’s mission and priorities while encouraging parents to share information in their schools and communities.
