Statement on Mayor’s FY18 Budget

On Tuesday April 4, Mayor Bowser released her FY18 proposed budget which increases the charter school facilities allowance by 2.2% and the Uniform Per Student Funding Formula by 1.5%. In response to the proposed budget, our Executive Director Scott Pearson made the following statement:

“Mayor Bowser’s budget recommends increasing facility funding for public charter schools, which we welcome. However, we also believe that adequate increases to per-student funding is essential for public schools and we're disappointed that the budget does not fully deliver on this vital need."
