Washington, D.C. - The Levy report released this week supports the concerns raised by DC charter schools and others about the lack of equitable funding provided to public charter schools.   Through our participation on the DC Public Education Finance Reform Commission, and through our work with our partners in the DC Government, the PCSB will continue to work to ensure that every charter school student benefits from the same equitable funding as other public school students.

One area highlighted in the Levy report was inequities in the area of facilities.  In 2010 the PCSB led the Public Charter School Facilities Allotment Working Group, which found similar inequities in facilities funding for charter schools.  One of the recommendations that came from that group was that the minimum level of charter school facilities funding received from local funding sources be set at $3,000 per student, versus the current $2,800 amount.  We continue to support that recommendation.
