Submission Guidelines for Wednesday Bulletin

The Wednesday Bulletin is sent weekly to public charter school staff and other interested parties and contains notices from the DC PCSB, government agencies (e.g., OSSE, Deputy Mayor for Education), community notices, and opportunities for students.

Guidance for Wednesday Bulletin

These blurbs are due on Friday at 5 p.m. to [email protected]. (If you miss this deadline your item will be held until the following week.)The Bulletin is compiled on Tuesday's and distributed by email on Wednesday mornings.

Here is some information to help guide you as you solicit information from external stakeholders:

Categories of Information Include: DC PCSB General Notices; DC PCSB and OSSE Data and Document Submission Notices; Government Notices; Charter School Support Organization Notices, Special Opportunities for School Leaders/Staff/Students

Format: Any notice needs a bolded date, time, location, address, contact person preferably with title and/or affiliation -- and RSVP instructions (email the contact person, follow this link, etc.).

Some general guidance:

  • Shorter is better. We're generally looking for one paragraph that states clearly what is needed or wanted from the public charter school and why. The blurb should include the name, and contact information of the source of the blurb. Attachments (.pdf, .doc) are OK and we can include hyperlinks.

Good Example:
School Lunch Data

DC PCSB is collecting information on the kind of lunch that is served at your school and wants to know whether the most popular food items are refried beans, stewed tomatoes or okra. This data must be collected, according to a previous Board policy (hyperlink) asking for the data. Please send your responses to Jack at (202) 345-5191 or [email protected].

  • Don't submit items that are written using "I" this is not the Wednesday Bulletin style. Either rewrite the item before sending it to us, or ask the person who sent it to rewrite and resubmit to you.

Bad Example:
School Lunch Data

I'm collecting information on the kind of lunch that is served at your school and I want to know whether the most popular food items are refried beans, stewed tomatoes or okra. I am collecting this data, according to a previous Board policy (hyperlink here) asking for the data. Please send me responses at 202-345-5191 or [email protected]
