Two Rivers Hosts Ribbon Cutting at New Campus in Ward 5
On Tuesday, Two Rivers PCS, a dedicated and long-time high-performing Tier 1 school, celebrated the opening of their third school in DC at the Charles E. Young Elementary School campus. The celebration featured remarks by Jessica Wodatch, Executive Director and co-founder; Mayor Muriel Bowser; Deputy Mayor for Education Jennie Niles; Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, and, Pam Jackson, Two Rivers PCS Board Chair.
The Two Rivers campus at Young is the first replicated Expeditionary Learning program in the country and will further expand Two Rivers’ preschool to 8th grade program. The program is one of the most sought after programs in the city, touting a very lengthy wait list and more than 3,000-student applicants.
As Jessica Wodatch, Executive Director and co-founder of Two Rivers PCS noted: “The demand for a Two Rivers education has been overwhelming, and we are thrilled to be able to respond by opening another campus at Young. At Two Rivers we create lifelong learners who can think critically, solve problems, and collaborate with others. We are overjoyed to bring this educational model to more students and to a new neighborhood. Young is a beautiful campus with a rich history, and we’re delighted to launch its new chapter.”
The school offers a rigorous, standards-based curriculum and focus on providing all students with the real life experiences and examples that they can then use to excel in their future endeavors. Each class focuses on the whole child, recognizing the importance of character education and the social-emotional needs of children while helping them to achieve academic excellence.
PCSB, the Office of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor of Education as well as several other key city officials are very excited about this new campus and the great work that Two Rivers PCS is doing to prepare students for high school, college and career.
