Washington Latin PCS Principal Diana Smith Receives 2015 Washington Post Distinguished Educational Leadership Award
The Washington Post awarded Diana Smith, principal at Washington Latin PCS, the 2015 Distinguished Educational Leadership Award. Smith was one of 20 recipients selected to receive this prestigious award. The metro area educators recognized were chosen because of their demonstrated leadership abilities and commitment to creating an exceptional educational environment for students, faculty and staff, among many other attributes.
“All of us at Washington Latin are thrilled about Diana Smith's Washington Post Distinguished Educational Leadership Award. She deserves this recognition for what she means to our school and what she has accomplished as Principal,” said Martha Cutts, Washington Latin PCS Head of School.
Winners will be honored during an award ceremony at The Washington Post on May 5 and will receive a personalized trophy, monetary award and mentions in The Washington Post Magazine and on The Post’s site.
The Distinguished Educational Leadership Awards were established in 1987 and honors principals who go beyond the daily responsibilities of their position to create an exceptional educational environment through dedicated leadership. The Post also named 20 recipients of the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Awards, which were formed in 1983 and recognizes pre-kindergarten-12 teachers who ensure students receive a high-quality education through first-class and creative instruction.
In presenting these awards, The Washington Post hopes to encourage excellence in school leadership and to contribute to the improvement of education in the Washington metropolitan area.
